GENERAL

 

Jockey Bardottier, who was injured during the running of the 1st race, was stood down by the Club’s Medical Officer. The Stewards approved the following replacement riders:


Race 2: S. Bussunt on Melson Race 4: B. Sooful on Alpha Pegasi Race 7: R. Hoolash on Apple Jack Race 8: B. Sooful on Spin A Coin 




 

RACE 1 – THE CLUB HOUSE CUP – 1450M


Fortissimo - Taken wide leaving the 450 metres and raced wide rounding the home turn. Commenced to give ground approaching the 300 metres and shifted in, momentarily crowding Polar Rock. When questioned, jockey Joorawon explained that after jumping reasonably well he elected to ask his mount for an effort to endeavour to keep his position, however he decided to race in a one off position where he felt comfortable and asked his mount for an effort near the 450 metres as per his instructions. He added that his mount failed to quicken and stayed one pace, being disappointing. Vet report: Lame off fore.

 

Social Network – Raced wide in the early stages. Passing the 1300 metres jockey Nunes readjusted his off side stirrup. Blunderbuss – Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced wide in the early stages. Passing the 300 metres hesitated. When questioned, jockey Bardottier explained that Polar Rock, which was racing in front of him, ducked in, brushing the running rail, which resulted in his horse getting a fright and hesitating. 

 

Got To Fly – Fractious prior to the start with its bridle coming loose twice. Stood flat-footed and was slow to begin. 

 

Redwood Valley – Slow into stride. Over the concluding stages shifted in under pressure onto Valerin. 

 

Polar Rock – Commenced to over-race from leaving the 1300 metres and near the 1200 metres had to be restrained when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Radlet. Momentarily crowded near the 300 metres, shifted in and brushed the running rail.

 

Refined Bachelor - Raced wide in the early stages. 

 

Valerin – Over the concluding stages was inconvenienced by Redwood Valley with jockey Zechner being unable to use his whip in his left hand.




 

RACE 2 – THE THALI CUP – 1400M


Blow In The Box – Raced wide throughout. Hithimagainchuck – Prior to the start being effected fractious in its gate and reared.

 

Come On Sonny – Slow to begin.  Oh Behave – Leaving the 200 metres hung out when being ridden with the whip and near the 150 metres bumped Hithimagainchuck. Jockey Sooful was shown the video replays of the incident, severely reprimanded and told that he should stop riding and straighten his mounts earlier than he did on this occasion.

 

Patrol Officer – Slow into stride. Passing the 1200 metres raced in restricted room on the inside of Manetheren. Had difficulty in obtaining a clear run in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 1000 metres commenced to over-race and had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Manetheren. Came off the crossing at the 450 metres very awkwardly. Near the 100 metres was switched to the outside of Manetheren and brushed Blow In The Box. 

 

Antwerp – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

 

Melson – Slow to begin. Near the 1200 metres ran out of galloping room and had to be checked when cramped for room on the inside of Newsman.

 

Wow Holiday – Raced wide throughout. Carried wide near the 900 metres. Newsman – Passing the 1300 metres raced in restricted room on the inside of Patrol Officer. Near the 1200 metres was tightened for room on the inside of Patrol Officer. Inconvenienced near the 450 metres.

 

Manetheren - Near the 900 metres was taken out to avoid the heels of Antwerp and carried Wow Holiday wider on the track. Raced wide from the 600 metres.

 

GENERAL

 

On inquiry, jockey Reis (Manetheren) pleaded guilty to  a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (d) in that approaching the 1300 metres he failed to take the necessary steps to ensure that his mount did not shift in and interfere with Patrol Officer, with the latter being cramped for room. He was fined Rs.20,000.




 

RACE 3 – THE NACRE TRADING TROPHY – 1500M


Acting on veterinary advice that From The Ashes was unfit to race, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 9 a.m. on Friday 3 May. In view of this, all bets on From The Ashes were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened.

Top Of The Rock – Slow to begin. Near the 250 metres was taken out from behind Nordic Chant and bumped heavily with Edisson.  

 

Avail – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Nordic Chant – Jumped awkwardly and brushed the left side of its gate.

 

Bouclette Top – Jumped inwards. Inconvenienced by Avail shortly after the start. Approaching the 1300 metres commenced to race fiercely when being restrained to avoid the heels of Promissory, got its head up in the air and raced ungenerously for some distance. Was taken out approaching the 300 metres to improve its position. Near the 100 metres, when being ridden with the whip in the right hand, shifted out away from the whip and ran onto the heels of Barak Lavan, which shifted in slightly.

 

Edisson – Vet report: Bled both nostrils.

 

GENERAL

 

On inquiry, jockey Juglall (Top Of The Rock) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of MTC Rule 160 A (d) in that near the 250 metres he angled his mount outwards and jostled Edisson with the latter becoming unbalanced. He was fined Rs.20,000.




 

RACE 4 – THE SHANEEL CHUNNOO MEMORIAL CUP – 1450M


Alshibaa - Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, crowding Steal A March. Hung out over the final 100 metres.

 

Mambo Rock – From its wide draw was taken across to race behind runners. Passing the 300 metres was taken out to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn. Hung in in the home straight.

 

Moonrise Sensation – Leaving the 1300 metres was taken out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Wall Tag and, in doing so, carried Huyssteen wider on the track.

 

Alpha Pegasi – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, brushing the right side of its gate.

 

Steal A March – Slow to begin. 

 

Trap Lord – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. 

 

Virtue – Over-raced in the middle stages. Hung in in the home straight.

 

Belenos – Raced wide in the early stages.  Wall Tag – Leaving the 900 metres shifted in and brushed Virtue.

 

Huyssteen – Carried wide passing the 1200 metres.




 

RACE 5 – THE RESTAURANT VEERAMUNDAR 100TH ANNIVERSARY CUP – 1450M 


Correct weight was withheld for the Stewards to view the video replays of the home straight. It was established that passing the 200 metres Racing For Fun had to be switched to the outside of Ice Run to secure clear running and endeavour to improve into a gap on the inside of Ernie. Shortly after, Ice Run commenced to shift out away from the whip and at the same time Ernie shifted in slightly, resulting in Racing For Fun having to be switched to the outside of Ernie to continue going forward. The Stewards, being of the opinion that firstly, when Ernie shifted in, it was well clear of Racing For Fun and secondly with Ice Run shifting out, had contributed to the incident. As such, correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers. 

King’s County – Jumped awkwardly. Commenced to give ground near the 150 metres. When questioned with regard to its poor performance, jockey Juglall explained that after jumping well he managed to secure the lead where his mount raced relaxed, setting an even pace, however when asked for an effort, his mount failed to quicken and was extremely disappointing. Vet report: No abnormality.

 

Dreamforest – Slow to begin.  Bonnie Prince – Near 100 metres was switched to the outside of King’s County to continue going forward. 




 

RACE 6 – THE ONEX ENTERTAINMENT PUTTANDHU 5121 CUP – 990M 


Rule The Night – Crowded on jumping.  Hung in in the home straight. Lickerio – Carried outwards shortly after the start. Carried wide near the 300 metres. Jockey Allyhosain was severely reprimanded and told that he should ride all his mounts out to the finish.

 

Rob Roy – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, crowding Rule The Night onto Lickerio with the latter shifting outwards.

 

Tiger’s Bond – Slow to begin. Came off the crossing at the 450 metres awkwardly and stumbled.

 

Good Buddy – Approaching the 300 metres was taken out from behind Rob Roy to improve its position and carried Lickerio wider on the track. Hung in in the early stages of the home straight. 





 

RACE 7 - LE 54EME ANNIVERSAIRE DE LA CIE. SOOCRAMANIEN KANAKSABEE TROPHEE– 1400M


Apple Jack – Passing the 400 metres was eased to avoid the heels of Due Volte.

 

Varside – Leaving the 200 metres, when being ridden with the whip, commenced to shift out with jockey Nunes shifting his whip to his left hand and then shifting his whip to his right hand leaving the 100 metres.

 

Due Volte – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out bumping Volatile Energy. Approaching the 1300 metres had to be taken in and was carried inwards and eventually being cramped for galloping room and had to be eased to avoid the heels of Fury. Following this incident, commenced to race ungenerously, throwing its head for some distance. From leaving the 400 metres, for some distance, was held up when unable to improve from behind Atahada, which was giving ground and had to be eased, resulting in Apple Jack, which was following, having to be eased when awkwardly placed close to its heels. Was switched to the outside of Atahada leaving the 250 metres to secure clear running.

 

Mr Green Street – raced fiercely in the middle stages and leaving the 900 metres, for some distance, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of Due Volte. Raced wide from the 600 metres.

 

Professional – Slow to begin. Near the 300 metres had to be eased to avoid the heels of Mr Vengeance, which was giving ground quickly and had shifted and brushed the running rail. Was switched to the inside of Mr Vengeance in the early stages of the home straight 

 

Romanus – Raced wide throughout.   

 

Atahada – Approaching the 400 metres commenced to give ground.

 

Mr Vengeance - Commenced to give ground from passing the 400 metres. 

 

GENERAL

 

On inquiry, jockey Juglall (Fury) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of MTC Rule 160 A (f) in that approaching the 1300 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear, resulting in Due Volte becoming cramped for galloping room and having to be eased and taken out. He was suspended from riding in races for one Mauritian race meeting.



 

RACE 8 – LA STE. GOVINDA & SONS 65TH ANNIVERSARY CUP – 1600M

Desert Thief – Slow to begin. Near the 1365 metres jockey Allyhosain adjusted his near side stirrup. Approaching the 1300 metres commenced to over-race and had to be restrained when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Cyber Special. Near the 300 metres shifted in and brushed the running rail.

 

Sir Capers – Bumped at the start. Leaving  the 1300 metres commenced  to race fiercely and had to be restrained and taken out to avoid the heels of Desert Thief and carried Ice Emperor wider on the track. Near the 1100 metres the saddle moved forward, placing jockey Chisty at a disadvantage. Leaving the 700 metres jockey Chisty, whose saddle had slipped forward, could not assist his mount properly and directed it to the outside of Ice Emperor and, in doing so, inconvenienced Roman Emperor and carried the latter outwards.  Raced wide from the 450 metres and made the turn into the home straight very wide.

 

Kash Is King – Near the 350 metres was taken out from behind Spin A Coin to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200 metres shifted in under pressure.

 

Roman Emperor – Fly-jumped and was slow to begin. Carried outwards near the 600 metres.

 

Bono Vox – Slow to begin. Vet report: Lame near fore.

 

Ice Emperor – Slow to begin. Leaving the 1200 metres carried wide.

 

Spin A Coin – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, bumping Sir Capers. Passing the 1300 metres shifted in and bumped Cyber Special. Approaching the 200 metres shifted in under pressure.
